Who Plays Syonide in Black Lightning?
The role of Syonide in Black Lightning is played by Charlbi Dean Kriek. She was a South African actress who was born on February 5, 1990 and died on August 29, 2022. Dean, who was born in Cape Town and raised as a model first appeared on American television in a 2017 episode of the show Elementary. Soon after, in 2015, she joined the cast of The CW’s Black Lightning as Syonide, the surrogate daughter of main villain Tobias Whale.
Tobias rescued baby Syonide from a trash can and raised her to become a deadly assassin, even implanting bulletproof fiber under her skin. Dean made her first appearance as Syonide in the pilot episode of Black Lightning and returned for a total of nine episodes before being killed off in the season two premiere.
This year at Cannes, the actress shared her role with co-star Woody Harrelson for their work in the film Triangle of Sadness which was released in theatres on October 7, 2022. In addition to these two films, she has also appeared in Death Race 3: Inferno and Blood in the Water.

As of the 29th of August 2022, Dean was hospitalized in New York City due to illness.
