What Is the Plot of Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy?

Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy spans two decades, chronicling the emergence of producer-turned-rapper Kanye West, his foray into the fashion world, and his later years.

The three-part documentary series also delves into numerous West’s scandals, including his endorsement of Donald Trump and announcement of his presidential bid in 2020, his poor mental health, and his marriage to Kim Kardashian.

Each episode is around 80 minutes in length and is divided into three sections:

Wednesday, February 16: act I VISION; Wednesday, February 23: act ii: PURPOSE; Wednesday, March 2: act iii: AWAKENING

Coodie & Chike (Clarence Simmons and Chike Ozah) directed the documentary after meeting an ambitious West in the early 2000s when he struggled to be taken seriously as a rapper.

They’ve captured some of West’s best moments over the last two decades, including the recording of “The College Dropout,” which was released in 2004, and the making of the song “Through The Wire,” which was recorded only weeks after West survived a near-fatal car accident.

Additionally, Coodie & Chike captured some tender moments between West and his mother, Donda West. Regrettably, Donda West passed away in November 2007. Kanye West has since dedicated two albums to her, “Donda (2021)” and the soon-to-be-released “Donda 2.”

Cookie said to Newsweek that the documentary had been scheduled for release on multiple occasions, but Kanye was not ready.

“They say that everything happens in God’s time,” he explained. We were going to shoot the documentary in 2006, but Kanye wasn’t ready for the world to see that part of him because he was a performer who desired the light.

“Then, in 2014, we were going to do it, but they had other plans for Kanye, so it didn’t happen.” Then I said, ‘It’s time for this to happen,’ and everything began to fall into place.”

Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy Episode 3 releases on Netflix on Wednesday, March 2.
