Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef are separating after six years of marriage.
The Puerto Rican singer and the Syrian-Swedish musician tell:
“We have decided to end our marriage with love, respect and dignity for our children and honoring what we have experienced as a couple all these wonderful years.”
The former couple say they want to continue raising their children, Lucia, born in 2018, and Renn, born in 2019, together while maintaining mutual respect and love. (In 2008, Martin became a father to identical twins, Matteo and Valentino, whom he will continue to raise on his own.)
Martin and Yosef started dating after connecting on Instagram in 2015 and then meeting for the first time in London six months later. They announced their engagement in the same year they met at the 2016 amFAR Inspiration Gala and eventually tied the knot the following year in 2018.

In a January 2018 interview, the “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer announced their engagement. “I’m a husband, but we’re doing a heavy party in a couple of months,” he said to the media. We’ve done everything from exchanging vows to signing prenuptial agreements and other legal documents.

Both fathers, who are fluent in many tongues, have expressed a desire to teach their four kids to communicate well in every situation. Martin said about his twin twins in an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2013: “We speak Spanish at home, but they also speak English and French. As the saying goes, “I want them to be exposed to everything.”
Yosef has claimed that he is instructing their younger two children in Arabic. When asked by My Kali about how he raised his children, he said, “I focus on Arabic rather than English or Swedish.” My daughter, who is only two years old, can already count to ten in Arabic, which I taught her.
According to Vogue Arabia, Yosef is both a skilled painter and a conceptual artist; he was awarded London’s Threadneedle Prize for showing artists in 2013 and the Beers Contemporary Award for Emerging Art the same year. In 2020, his duct tape-inspired rug collection received him the Archiproducts Design Award. This year, he launched a brand-new studio in the heart of L.A.
