The renowned stage and screen actor Alan Arkin who received an Academy Award for his work in the 2006 movie “Little Miss Sunshine” has pἀssed away on June 29, 2023. His age was 89 at the time of his pἀssing.

Melody Korenbrot, Arkin’s agent confirmed his pἀssing on Friday, June 30, 2023. His sons Adam, Matthew and Anthony gave a statement on the family’s behalf. “Our father was a uniquely talented force of nature, both as an artist and a man.”

A Journey of Multitalented Alan Arkin: A Master of Stage, Screen and Television
Prior to breaking into roles in television and cinema, Arkin who received praise for his performance as the foul-mouthed grandfather in “Little Miss Sunshine” started his career in theater. He played the lead in the movies “Edward Scissorhands” and “Argo” as well as the TV series “BoJack Horseman.”
His most recent appearance was in “The Kominsky Method” a Netflix comedy series for which he received two Emmy nominations for supporting actor in a comedy series.
Along with the Oscar and British Academy Film Award he received for “Little Miss Sunshine,” Arkin also won two Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Golden Globe and a Tony during the course of his career. Additionally, he was nominated for numerous Oscars including one for his debut feature, “The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming.”
Arkin has three children from three different marriages. He has two sons, Adam and Matthew with his first wife, Jeremy Yaffe with whom he was married for six years. They separated in 1961.
Anthony Dana Arkin was born after Arkin’s marriage to actress and playwright Barbara Dana which lasted from 1964 to 1994. Following their divorce, Suzanne Newlander was married to Arkin. All three of Arkin’s sons were collaborators on his acting projects and he even portrayed Adam Arkin’s father in the television show “Chicago Hope.”
