Clark Haggans deἀth’s circumstances were not made public. Alianna and Damon, Haggans’ daughter, survive him.
Haggans was selected by the Steelers in the fifth round of the 2000 NFL Draft out of Colorado State. He played 13 NFL seasons, the first eight of which he spent in Pittsburgh. In 2006, he was a member of the team that won the Super Bowl XL. He gave up playing football in 2013.
As of the time of our 2019 conversation with Haggans, he had been dividing his time between Pittsburgh, Denver, and Las Vegas since his retirement.
He said:
“I’m just being a dad.” “I’m also doing some real estate and just being a dad and chilling out. … “I do some volunteer work at my former high school and help with the boosters at Colorado State too. I’m just happy and blessed to have put enough money away to be able to support my kids so they can do what makes them happy.”
Haggans completed his rookie deal with the Steelers as a reserve, rotational, and special teams player, starting just four games in his first four seasons. However, Haggans took up the starting position opposite Joey Porter after Jason Gildon left after the 2003 season and occupied it for four productive seasons.
When the Steelers won the championship in 2005, he had his best season as a pass rusher, recording nine sacks, 61 tackles, and seven tackles for loss. During the postseason run, he added another 1.5 sacks, 18 tackles, and two tackles for loss, including one sack and five tackles in Super Bowl XL.

In 2008, Haggans signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an unrestricted free agent and played for them for four years. When the Cardinals fell to the Steelers in Super Bowl XLIII, he was on the injured reserve list. In 2012, he signed with the San Francisco 49ers after leaving Arizona. The 49ers lost to the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII, which marked his final NFL game.
