The deἀth of a worker on Monday (8 May) at an Amazon fulfillment site in Fort Wayne is under investigation by the Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration (IOSHA). On Tuesday (9 May), IOSHA began its inquiry. The duration of that study is unknown.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office released its autopsy findings on Wednesday (10 May), which showed the worker’s deἀth was due to blυnt force traυma and was classified as an accident. The employee was recognized as 20-year-old Caes David Gruesbeck by the coroner.

The coroner said that emergency responders and police were called to the fulfillment center warehouse at 9798 Smith Road on Monday afternoon following a reported workplace accident.

Gruesbeck injυred his head on an overhead transportation system while operating a one-man lift, according to Amazon spokesperson Maureen Lynch Vogel. He was qualified to operate the lift, but Vogel claimed that he was trying to clear a blockage on the conveyor.
