Sheriff Says the Search for the Suspect Who Sh0t and Kἰlled Five Neighbors Continues

After the family asked him to stop fring rounds in his yard because their baby was trying to sleep, the Texas man went next door with a ɼifle. According to authorities, on Saturday (29 April), he started sh00ting his neighbors, klling an 8-year-old and four others inside the house.

Following the overnight sh00ting in Cleveland, about 45 miles north of Houston, San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers informed reporters that authorities were looking for 38-year-old Francisco Oropeza.

According to Capers, investigators used a drone flying overhead and scent-tracking dogs to look for Oropeza. He claimed that Oropeza sh0t targets while using an AR-style weapon.

“Our number one priority is like it’s always been since the early morning hours of this morning — late, late last night — is to locate this suspect and put him behind bars where he belongs,” said Capers in a second news conference late Saturday afternoon, adding that the suspect “could be anywhere now.”

During the search, Capers said authorities discovered the suspect’s cell phone and some clothing. According to the sheriff, investigators think they have the firearm used in the cɼime:

“We believe we have that wepon, but we don’t know if he is or is not carrying a smaller wepon,” Capers said.

According to Livemint, Capers claimed that there were 10 occupants in the home at the time of the sh00ting. The other five remained unharmed. He claimed that two of the victims, all thought to be Hondurans, were discovered inside, lying over two young children.

“Everyone that was sh0t was sh0t from the neck up, almost execution-style,” Capers said during an earlier news conference at the scene.

According to Capers, who said three blood-covered children were found in the home but were determined to be unnjured after being taken to a hospital:

“The Honduran ladies that were laying over these children were doing it in such an effort as to protect the child.”

Two more persons, according to Capers, were evaluated on the spot and then discharged. According to the sheriff, the victims were Sonia Argentina Guzman, 25, Diana Velazquez Alvarado, 21, Julisa Molina Rivera, 31, Daniel Enrique Laso, 8, and Jose Jonathan Casarez, 18.

According to Capers, the culprit is still large and wanted on five muɼder charges. Capers stated on social media that a court had also issued an arrest warrant and a $5 million bond.

According to Capers, family members approached the fence and asked the suspect to stop fiɼing sh0ts before the altercation occurred. Just after 11:30 p.m. on Friday (28 April), the sheriff’s office received a complaint of harassment from a resident of a house on Walter Drive in the Trails End subdivision.

According to Capers, one person in the house got a video of the suspect walking up to the front door with the rifle. Authorities have previously been to the suspect’s home:

“Deputies have come over and spoke with him about him sh00ting his gun in the yard,” he said.

Capers revealed that some residents had relocated from Houston earlier in the week. However, he was unsure of their plans for the future. According to Capers, the FBI is now in charge of the search effort, and the FBI will continue to provide all future case updates. Texas Rangers also supported the probe:

“We’re still out there trying to find this individual,” said James Smith, FBI special agent in charge of the Houston Field Office. “We consider him armed and dangerous.”

According to a database maintained by The Associated Press and USA Today in collaboration with Northeastern University, there have been at least 18 sh00tings across the United States since Jan. 1 that resulted in the deths of four or more individuals.

Numerous factors contribute to the violence, including muɼder-suicides, domestic abuse, gang reprisals, school sh00tings, and workplace vendettas. Texas has experienced numerous mass sh00tings recently, including the Robb Elementary School massacre in Uvalde last year, the racial assault at an El Paso Walmart in 2019, and the sh00ting at a church in the small town of Sutherland Springs in 2017.

According to CBS News, a candlelight prayer vigil will start at 4:30 p.m. local time. The absence of victim families is anticipated. Republicans in Texas have always opposed proposals for additional gun control laws, even this year in the face of opposition from several families whose children were klled in Uvalde.
