Biden Announces 2024 Presidential Race

On Tuesday 25 April, marked the beginning of President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign. He pledged to defend American rights against “extremists” associated with former President Donald Trump, whom he defeated in 2020 and may face again in 2024.

In a film made public by his new campaign team, Biden made his declaration. The video opens with scenes from the Trump supporters’ attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

He called the Republican agendas “threats to American freedoms,” pledged to combat efforts to restrict access to healthcare for women, slash Social Security, and outlaw books, and denounced “MAGA extremists.”

Trump, who is the early front-runner in the Republican primary contest, has coined the abbreviation MAGA for his “Make America Great Again” campaign anthem. If he prevails, he will run against Biden once more in the election of November 2024.

Trump, 76, is also the subject of age-related criticism from 35% of Republicans, who believe he is too old. According to the study, most registered voters don’t want Biden or Trump to run for office again.

Despite having a relatively low approval rating, Biden’s supporters believe he can defeat Trump once more. According to Reuters, he has a 43% to 38% advantage over his Republican opponent among registered voters.

Biden specifically addressed Trump and his allies in his campaign film.

Since taking over from Trump two years ago, Biden has overseen the lowest unemployment rates since 1969 and won congressional approval for billions of dollars in federal funding for new infrastructure and the COVID-19 pandemic, though 40-year inflation highs have marred his economic record.

In remarks delivered on Tuesday to a gathering of the building trades unions in North America, Biden claimed his economic strategy was “working,” but added that there was still “more to do.” The crowd screamed “Four more years!” as Biden enumerated his legislative accomplishments.

Because of his advanced age, Biden’s re-election campaign represents a historic and dangerous bet for the Democratic Party, particularly if he faces a considerably younger Republican opponent.
