Black and white film The Alien Autopsy runs for 17 minutes and purports to show a top-secret military autopsy of an alien. Ray Santilli, a businessman based in London released it in 1995. He portrayed it as an actual autopsy of an alien corpse found after the crash of a “flying disc” near Roswell, New Mexico in 1947.
A retired military cameraman who requested anonymity allegedly provided him with the film footage. The alien autopsy film has caused more controversy than any other film in the annals of UFO study and Roswell Alien Autopsy is the definitive book on the subject.
Since its 1995 broadcast on television and subsequent coverage in print media, this film has sparked heated discussions on every continent. This film has never before been the subject of a book as comprehensive as Roswell Alien Autopsy.
How was Alien Autopsy filmed?
The film was supposedly shot by the United States Army shortly after retrieving a body from the legendary 1947 crash in Roswell. In an effort to verify the authenticity of the film, Santilli sent samples to Kodak. Santilli reports that Kodak told them the film they examined could have been made any time between 1927 and 1967.
Fox paid Santilli nearly $250,000 to get the footage and avoid public accusations of fraud. Fox even went a step further in protecting themselves by adding the “Fact or Fiction?” portion to the title of the run to neither officially confirm nor deny the legitimacy of the footage nor rather, leave it in the eyes of the viewer.
Fox’s framing of the footage was especially important as the autopsy, comparatively was far more convincing than anything ever seen related to U.F.Os or paranormal sightings at the time.

When did Santilli admit that Alien Autopsy is Fake?
In 2006, Santilli admitted that the footage wasn’t shot in 1947 and that the ‘alien’ was actually a dummy. Although, Santilli still didn’t want to say that the movie was fake. Instead, he claims, it was a replica of an actual alien autopsy he had seen.
According to Santilli, We watched the original autopsy footage in 1993 or 1994 and brought it back to the UK. The footage had already significantly degraded within a year. All that was left were a few frames for us to use as a guide.
In order to get the original footage back, we had to painstakingly restore it frame by frame. What was a severely damaged film, we set out to simply restore. In the end, we might never learn the film’s true backstory.
Spyros Melaris, who helped Santilli produce the footage has been on record as saying he never saw any “real” tape and that no one ever suggested recreating any old footage. The blood was jammed, the guts were from chickens and the brain was from a sheep; these were all special effects.
