On November 26, 2022, Samantha Humphrey, a senior at Schenectady High School was reported missing. Around 11 p.m., she left her house and headed to Riverside Park in the Stockade section of town.
The girl’s mother, Jaclyn Humphrey claims that her daughter left the house that night in search of her ex-boyfriend whom some members of the family claim were abusive to the girl. Samantha’s mom told that during a fight that night, Samantha bit her ex on the arm.
When did Samantha Humphrey’s Dead Body Find?
According to a press release issued by the Schenectady Police Department on February 22, authorities located and removed a body from the Mohawk River.
WYNT reports that three months later, a fisherman discovered her body in the area. Shortly after her mother reported her missing, the coat she was thought to be wearing was found in the river with what appeared to be blood on the hood.
Humphrey’s family seems to believe that the body retrieved from the Mohawk River near the Front Street pool in Schenectady, where the girl disappeared is that of the missing teen.
After Humphrey’s death, his family issued a statement to CBS 6 expressing their sorrow.
Normal is forever gone, The pain and anguish we are feeling is compounded when the death comes at the hands of another human being and now we seek justice for our Samantha Valentine. The wound in our hearts will never fully heal on this side of eternity.
On, Feb 27, 2023, Schenectady police confirmed a body found in the Mohawk River last week is that of missing teen Samantha Humphrey.
On March 4, 2023, Dan Levy a television journalist at Albany’s NBC affiliate, WNYT shared a Tweet in which he said that Schenectady detectives now investigating the Samantha Humphrey case as a homicide.

Police have performed an autopsy on the body, but they won’t release the findings until Monday at the earliest. Members of Humphrey’s family have taken to social media to imply that they have given up looking for the teenager.
