“Rhys doesn’t wear every little part of him on his sleeve. But he has a fierce curiosity about the world. He wants to understand people and humanity,” says Speleers. “Rhys [suggests] that everybody has things in their life that they might not be proud of, but they’re all worthy of getting a second chance.”
“Aside from his intense relationships, Joe has probably struggled for true connection with people,” Speleers says. “Rhys has as well in a different way. He’s been able to tread the line between many social paths, but he’s probably lacking that true connection. They see that in one another.” (according to Netflix TUDUM)

“I love the heroes. But I’ve always loved the villain,” he says. “It was a great moment for me because everything’s been bubbling under the surface for all these episodes, and then suddenly the shackles come off.”
What did Joe think About Rhys?
From the beginning part, Joe doubted that he could be the Eat-the-Rich Killer. But he is not ready to believe those thoughts.
“Even if you get a sense that Rhys is involved in some way, I don’t think you believe it’s as sadistic as he ends up being,” Speleers says. Obviously, it is an unbelievable thought that a person who will be England’s future leader is a brutal murderer actually. It looks very difficult for Joe to accept that his friend is his biggest enemy.

“It’s kind of devastating when you become friends with somebody you think you can really look up to and share the same point of view on the world,” Your showrunner Sera Gamble said. “Now [Joe] has to question everything about what Rhys has ever said to him because the guy is clearly a very good liar.”
