Jessica Watson an Australian sailor born in Gold Coast on May 18, 1993, left Sydney on October 18, 2009, at the age of 16. Watson’s route took him over the equator of the Pacific Ocean and then the Atlantic and Indian Oceans to the northeast. She returned to Sydney on May 15, 2010.
After surviving seven knockdowns and 210 days at sea, she became the youngest person to sail solo around the world. After returning home, Jessica Watson documented her travels in a book titled True Spirit. The book came out on July 29, 2010, published by Hachette Australia.
