It’s only a little over a minute long, but there’s a lot to unpack in that time, including Misty (Christina Ricci) and Samantha Hanratty (Samantha) crying, Natalie (Juliette Lewis) talking about bringing “darkness” back and new character played by Elijah Wood questioning some complicated friendships that revolve around kidnapping and death.

Season one of Yellowjackets, about a high school soccer team that is left for dead in the jungle following an aircraft disaster, ended about a year ago. It alternated between two time periods, the first of which focused on the team’s struggle to stay alive on the island, and the second of which focused on their continued life 25 years afterward. Cults, cannibalism and other bizarre side trips into the supernatural only serve to deepen the enigma. An outstanding ensemble, including Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci and Daniel Day-Lewis, helped to elevate the film.
