Snowpiercer Season 4

Eventually, there were no more. Warner Bros. Discovery has concluded production on Snowpiercer Season 4 TNT’s lone original scripted series. The final season of the post-apocalyptic drama will not air on the planned basic cable network. According to rumors WBD is taking this action in order to take advantage of tax breaks for their material. Tomorrow Studios the production company behind the show reportedly plans to launch a franchise and is now shopping the new season along with prospective prequel and sequel films.

A TNT representative told Deadline, “We can confirm that TNT will not telecast season four of Snowpiercer.” This was a tough call but we still have a lot of respect for the talented team behind Snowpiercer’s amazing post-apocalyptic world. Since last year we’ve been working with the show’s creators to move the series somewhere where fans can continue to enjoy the same engaging story and amazing visual experience. We want to collaborate with them on other endeavors in the near future.

Earlier this year, there coms a exclusive news that Snowpiercer Season 4 would be the final, freeing up the ensemble to pursue other opportunities. It was decided not to air until much later in the year, according to sources. Some of the other shows that were canceled for tax reasons were the HBO Max tentpole Batgirl, the HBO drama Demimonde from J.J. Abrams and several shows from TBS like The Big D, Chad and Kill the Orange Bear. Both Chad and The Big D whose latest seasons had concluded alongside Snowpiercer have relocated to their new home networks Roku and Peacock.

WBD’s CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels remarked last week, “We’re done with that chapter,” in reference to the company’s policy of writing off old content. The TNets had already begun reducing the amount of original scripted content they produced. The combination between Discovery and WarnerMedia sped up the procedure.

We think season four of Snowpiercer is the perfect ending to a show that has amazing talent and will delight viewers while also delving into topics like global warming and social stratification. “We are so committed to this series that we have purchased the franchise rights,” said Marty Adelstein, CEO/Partner of Tomorrow Studios and Becky Clements, President/Partner of the company. Finding the right partner quickly will allow us to wrap up a fantastic journey and enjoy the last season.

Snowpiercer based on the 2013 film by Bong Joon-ho debuted in 2020 as the most-watched new scripted drama on all of ad-supported cable. Snowpiercer Season 4 added Clark Gregg and Michael Aronov to the already impressive cast of Daveed Diggs, Jennifer Connelly, Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Rowan Blanchard and Roberto Urbina.

The creator of the show Paul Zbyszewski along with Christoph Schrewe, Adelstein and Clements of Tomorrow Studios, Matthew O’Connor, Ben Rosenblatt, and Scott Derrickson, as well as the producers of the original film, Academy Award winner Bong, Miky Lee, Jinnie Choi, Park Chan-wook, Lee Tae-hun and Dooho Choi, are all executive producers on Season 4 of Snowpiercer. Tomorrow Studios collaborated with CJ Entertainment to create the show. ITV Studios is in charge of exports.
