Dr. Death Season 2: Dr. Edgar Ramirez Lands the Title Role in Peacock’s Second Season of ‘Life After Death’ Season 2 of “Dr. Ken” will star Edgar Ramirez.

Next season’s episode of the drama series will be adapted from the third season of the same-named Wondery podcast. Ramirez will portray the real-life character of Paolo Macchiarini in this biopic.

Macchiarini is “a charming surgeon, renowned for the innovative operations that earn him the nickname ‘Miracle Man,'” according to the official season synopsis. When investigative journalist Benita Alexander approaches him for a story, the line between personal and professional begins to blur, changing her life forever.

A group of doctors on the other side of the world uncovers astonishing discoveries that put everything about the “Miracle Man” into doubt and she finds out just how far Paolo will go to safeguard his secrets.

The miniseries “Carlos,” based on the real-life of Ilich Ramrez Sánchez, a.k.a. Carlos the Jackal, earned Ramirez an Emmy nomination and his role as the titular character in “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” earned him a second nomination. Ramirez’s other recent TV credits include “The Undoing” at HBO and he will also appear in the upcoming Netflix series “Florida Man.”

“Dr. Who” was written by Patrick Macmanus. Death,” for which she was responsible for the first season as a writer, showrunner and executive producer. Under the terms of his overall contract with UCP through Littleton Road Productions, he will continue to serve as executive producer throughout Season 2.

Season 1 writer and producer Ashley Michel Hoban will take on additional responsibilities as showrunner, executive producer and writer for Season 2.

For Escape Artists, Aaron Hart, Hernan Lopez and Marshall Lewy will serve as executive producers with Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch and Taylor Latham. Aside from writing, Linda Gase will also serve as an executive producer. For Season 2, Jennifer Morrison will helm the first four episodes and Laura Belsey will helm the second half. Peacock inspired by the Wondery podcast has ordered a second episode of the true-crime anthology series Dr. Death.

The next season will adapt the third season’s “Miracle Man” plot for the podcast format. The second season of Dr. Death is led, written, and executive produced by Ashley Michel Hoban, who also served in those capacities for the first season. Patrick Macmanus who ran the program and wrote and produced the first season as part of his overall arrangement with UCP will executive produce the second season under his Littleton Road Productions banner.

Season 2 will focus on Paolo Macchiarini, a charismatic surgeon with a reputation for groundbreaking procedures that has earned him the moniker “Miracle Man,” and how his encounter with investigative journalist Benita Alexander who is working on a story about him blurs the line between her personal and professional lives.

While she discovers the lengths to which Paolo will go to keep his secrets hidden, a team of scientists on the other side of the world makes shocking discoveries of their own that cast serious doubt on the claims of the “Miracle Man.”

Dr. Death based on the first season of the Wondery podcast delves into the mind of disgraced Texas neurosurgeon Christopher Duntsch (Joshua Jackson), who is suspected of being responsible for the injuries or deaths of at least 38 victims. A Critics’ Choice Award nomination for Best Limited Series was made for the show.

Hoban who is retained by WME and managed by Steven Selikoff, most recently worked as the supervising producer on The Girl from Plainville another true crime series on Hulu.
