The White Lotus Episode 6: What happened with Valentine in the Final Episode?

The White Lotus Episode 6

The White Lotus Episode 6

Valentina’s (Sabrina Impacciatore) birthday celebration on The White Lotus was a smashing success. After learning that the employee she had a secret crush on, Isabella (Eleonora Romandini), was in a secret relationship with Valentina’s most loathed colleague Rocco (Joseph Fiennes), the straight, closeted resort manager seemed doomed to spend her birthday alone in The White Lotus episode 6 “Abductions” (Federico Ferrante).

After Valentina (Beatrice Grann) finds out that Rocco is actually Isabella’s boyfriend, she cancels their plans to go out for drinks after work to celebrate Valentina’s birthday. She was about to go off and wallow in her sadness when Mia (Beatrice Grann) approaches her in the hotel bar.

After a few drinks, Valentina admits that she has never even kissed a woman, so Mia uses the opportunity to urge her to let loose and spend the night in an empty hotel suite as payment for letting her keep singing in the bar. Below, Impacciatore explains to EW why next week’s The White Lotus season 2 finale will make viewers “freak out,” and how their one night together will change Valentina’s life forever.

How often do you watch the Episodes? Alone? With friends?

The White Lotus Episode 6 Preview

As a result of the intensity of my emotions, I like to avoid viewing it solo. While I enjoy the show, I prefer not to view it in the company of strangers. I’m sharing the experience with individuals I care about. In fact, just the week before last, I was watching it with some close friends and [season 2 co-stars] Adam DiMarco and Jon Gries.

We’re now trying to get everyone in one place for the big finish. Because an actor feels so exposed while viewing their own work—so naked and vulnerable, in fact—I prefer to watch with the individuals I’ve been working with rather than strangers at a party, for example. For this episode, in which Valentina exposes her deepest vulnerabilities, that makes a lot of sense. What I experienced was real, and I remember it vividly. My words were genuine. Honestly, I was in the zone.

How will Valentina’s first night out with a lady and her first kiss change her for the final episode?

Valentina’s first night out with a lady

To me, this moment encapsulates all that may happen to Valentina and serves as a kind of character climax. She hadn’t learned nearly enough about herself up until now. Up until now, she seemed to have stood still. Contrary to her nature, she was not being herself. She had been attempting to ignore and avoid herself. She was petrified of expressing her true self.

She was a workaholic who hoped to gain mastery over her life by putting in as many hours as possible at her profession. So she was very forceful and tough on the job, but she was really simply avoiding facing herself. Her lack of personal space makes her feel extremely isolated. Only when she feeds the kittens does she reveal her true self; she, too, is a tiny kitten. In retrospect, that scene was crucial to my comprehension of the protagonist.

The opposite is true; animal lovers like Valentina often struggle greatly when interacting with other humans. She is limited to the power she currently possesses, and as a result, she treats others in whichever manner she finds most convenient. In her armor, she feels protected. Valentina is essentially a child at heart; she is so naive and trusting that the very first person to show interest in her, Isabella, becomes the object of her affection. The moment Valentina experiences true rejection and is pushed and led to the truth by Mia is the time she chooses independence. A turning point in one’s existence.

In my mind, it was like Etna erupting at that very moment. It’s crucial, and it’ll undoubtedly shape her future. And there’s a connection to something else I won’t reveal the details of here. Nonetheless, it moved me deeply to take this trip and experience firsthand how difficult life can be for certain individuals because they are unable to accept their true selves. That had a profound effect on me emotionally.

Valentina’s Self-Acceptance Battle

The gay community still faces significant stigma in Italy. In Italy, the LGBTQ community still faces legal discrimination and has to battle for equal protection to those enjoyed by the straight population. This has been a consistent subject for me, and an issue I’ve always been passionate about, because everyone has the right to love whoever they choose, regardless of s*xual orientation.

As an Italian actress, I am especially pleased to have this opportunity to advocate on behalf of the perpetually oppressed LGBTQ community. To enforce the ban on marriage, having children, and public displays of affection between individuals of different s*xes, the Vatican has made it illegal for LGBTQ people in Italy to do any of these things.

Because of this, playing this role was especially significant for me, and I will always be thankful for the experience. As an actress, I believe it is my duty to raise public awareness about the problem. And [creator] Mike [White] is a genius because he truly makes us focus on our darkness, our unhappiness, our inner nature, what we are trying to hide, how we want to represent ourselves, and our real nature. Thanks to the internet, artists like Mike White can finally be heard.

The White Lotus Episode 6: The End

The White Lotus Episode 6 The End

[Laughs] It makes me uneasy to discuss the seventh episode. I haven’t even made it to the sixth episode yet! Even though I recall much of what I read in the script, other aspects remain a mystery to me. Even though I am familiar with all of the scripts, I often find that I need to watch the show twice or even three times to fully appreciate it. As a result, I won’t be able to give any hints concerning the future. I can only say that the shocking events of the final episode will cause genuine panic among viewers. We have also covered the earlier episode of The White Lotus.

The White Lotus is shown on HBO and HBO Max on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
