Kara Sewell works as a morning co-anchor at WFAA News. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2005 with a degree in Communication and Media Studies.
After finishing her studies, she began her broadcasting career in Odessa, Texas. Over the years, she has worked in various places, including Texas, Kansas, and Ohio, before coming back to Dallas in 2018.
Before working at WFAA, she spent three years at FOX 19 in Cincinnati. There, she had exciting experiences covering events such as the MLB All-Star Games and the Republican and Democratic national conventions during the 2016 presidential campaign.
Before Cincinnati, Kara worked for six years at KWCHI12 in Wichita, Kansas, where she served as both an anchor and reporter. At that time, she quickly arrived at the place where a sad event happened – the shooting of Dr. George Tiller, an abortion provider, inside his church.
As a morning anchor, Kara made exciting news stories for the show. One that people really liked was about ‘Gumby,’ a big dog who couldn’t see or hear but learned special signs to get around. In 2012 and 2013, the Kansas Association of Broadcasters gave their team an award for the Best Morning Newscast.

So glory to God and a little science for this gift with the help of IVF. In a sweet message, Kara shared pictures on TV of her and her husband with an ultrasound and moments of excitement finding out the baby’s gender. She said,
