Netflix released the first official photo of the cast of the upcoming live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series. Multiple characters from Fire Nation were revealed to viewers via the streamer’s photo dump. Elizabeth Yu as Princess Azula, Ken Leung as Commander Zhao, Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai, and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as General Iroh.
Netflix Avatar Release Date
Although Netflix has not officially announced a release date, the live-action Avatar adaptation is expected to premiere sometime in 2024. Eight episodes will make up the first season of the show, which follows Aang as he prepares to “fulfill his destiny as the Avatar and bring peace to a world that has been decimated by a war waged by the Fire Nation.”
The new series will have direction from Jabbar Raisini and Michael, as well as co-executive producing from Roseanne Liang and Jet Wilkinson.
With the release of the first teaser for their upcoming adaptation of “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” Netflix has officially confirmed the show’s premiere date of January 1, 2024. A first glimpse at Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, and Dallas Liu as Zuko was also released.

The brief teaser also includes reimagined scenes from the source material. Each nation’s symbol—water, earth, fire, and air—is depicted etched into a different landscape and cast in shadow by the element that dominates that area.

After some music that calls to mind the original, the series title and premiere year of 2024 are seen painted on a burned piece of fabric, suggesting that the Fire Nation is on the verge of global dominance at the start of the series.
