In What Condition Was Lacey Fletcher’s Body Found?
East Feliciana Parish Coroner Dr. Ewell Dewitt Bickham III said that police were called to Lacey’s Slaughter, Louisiana, home on January 3 after her parents called 911 to report that their daughter wasn’t breathing. When the police entered the house, they encountered a pungent odor.
They discovered Lacey seated in a foam and upholstery-filled hole in the couch. She only weighed 96 pounds. Dr Bickham said, “The scene was sickening.”
He described Lacey as being from head to toe covered in urine, excrement and insect bites while also being partially n_ked. Initially, it was suggested that Lacey might have had Locked-in Syndrome, a rare neurological condition.

Later, Bickham determined that Lacey had social anxiety as well as severe autism. According to the coroner, Lacey did not appear to have seen a doctor in 20 years.
On her bottom, there were terrible ulcers and bed sores that extended all the way to her bone. Additionally, she apparently had bacterial infections and had a positive Covid test. Bickham described the day Lacey was discovered:
“The parents were in the kitchen, They did not have an explanation.”
According to Bickham, Lacey’s death was a homicide. He said:
“Her cause of death stems from at least a decade of medical neglect.”
Authorities say that her parents will likely be investigated by a grand jury over her horrible and shocking death.
