KhushbooBy KhushbooSeptember 10, 20233 Mins Read

When Virgin River Season 4 came to a close, Jack and Mel were ecstatic to find they were expecting a baby. However, given Mel’s history of miscarriages and stillbirths as well as the fact that her pregnancy is high-risk, supporters couldn’t help but worry about the future well-being of both her and the unborn child.

Virgin River Season 5’s first 10 episodes, which are based on Robyn Carr’s books debuted on Netflix on September 7.

Season 5, Part 1 has its fair share of challenges, including medical issues, wildfires, an emotional trial and a significant criminal investigation. But the real concern is whether Mel will actually lose the child.

What Happened to Mel’s Baby in Virgin River Season 5?

Mel’s current pregnancy has been classified as high-risk given her previous experiences with imminent parenting. The biggest test of Mel and Jack’s relationship comes when they go through a pregnancy together. Throughout the new season, Mel and Jack weather a variety of storms together.

Although she still cannot wait to become a mother, she realizes her limitations and decides to resign her position at the clinic. Sadly, Mel miscarries during Virgin River season 5.

Mel notices that she is bleeding while a wildfire breaks out in the community. She has a moment to herself at the clinic and examines her uterus, only to find that she can’t detect a heartbeat. Mel has a D&C operation after telling Jack the devastating and tragic news.

It’s undeniably crucial to a large number of viewers that Virgin River continues to handle this weighty subject matter with care and sincerity.

Both Mel and Jack are saddened by the loss. The future of their family though is a point of contention for the pair. Jack learns that Mel does not want to attempt for another pregnancy despite his desire to do so.

She explains that she cannot bear to go through the heartache of another miscarriage after having four and a stillbirth. As much as she wished for her own child, becoming a parent doesn’t have to occur in any certain way.

She comes to this realization after chatting with Jack, her family, friends and friends. By episode 10 of season 5, Mel and Jack appear to be open to the prospect of starting a family.
