Yohanes, who is 22 and just got out of college went to San Jose to work as a software engineer for Netflix. Police said he was last seen getting into an Uber at 7:15 p.m. on August 14. Yohanes’ older brother, Yosief Kidane said that he had last talked to his brother on August 13.
He also said that his sister had noticed that Yohanes’ phone was at the Golden Gate Bridge on the night of August 14 and stayed there the next day. Yosief told:
“She’d been calling, trying to see what he’s doing. He never picked up, She calls me, wakes me up before I start work, and we start calling his phone, calling friends, trying to see where he could be.”
He also said that he had called the police to check on Yohanes at his apartment. The Netflix engineer wasn’t at home or at work, as it turned out. The Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center later found Yohanes’ cell phone, cash and backpack.

How did Yohanes Kidane Body Find?
In a news release, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said that its coroner division was contacted by the California Highway Patrol on August 29 after a passing boat found a person who was unconscious and not responding in the waters of San Francisco Bay northeast of the Golden Gate Bridge.

The sheriff’s office also said that paramedics declared the person dead after his body was found. The remains exhibited signs of advanced decomposition, prolonged exposure to the aquatic environment and appreciable depredation.
Since the person had no ID and the remains were “unidentifiable and unknown” officials said they started an investigation. Two days later, Yohanes Stefanos Kidane was “positively scientifically identified” as the person who had died. The sheriff’s office said that his family was then told about the finding and his death.

A forensic postmortem was done the day after Yohanes’ body was found and found that he died from blunt impact injuries with drowning as a significant contributing condition. It was found that the person had killed himself.
