Sam Levinson, creator of the controversial series Euphoria, is no stranger to backlash. His work has received equal amounts of praise and condemnation for pushing boundaries. He’s now working on a project with pop star The Weeknd that’s sure to be divisive.
Lily-Rose Depp plays an ambitious pop star who falls in love with a cult leader played by The Weeknd (real name: Abel Tesfaye) in the film The Idol. It’s the kind of notion that could either be a complete disaster or one of the best drama series ever made, like Euphoria. Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Dan Levy, Troye Sivan, and Rachel Sennott round out the cast, which also features Suzanna Son.
At the Cannes Film Festival 2023, the first two episodes of The Idol received a five-minute standing ovation, but the show also received some nasty critiques from the assembled critics. Now that it’s here, you can judge for yourself whether The Idol deserves all the critical acclaim or is just another mediocre TV show by checking out the release date.
When will The Idol Episode 2 Air?
Episode 2 of The Idol will premiere on June 11, 2023, at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. In the United States, HBO airs at those times. Sky Atlantic in the United Kingdom airs new episodes every Monday at 2 a.m., the same time they premiere in the United States.
