Dune Part 2 Release Date and Characters: New Entries Will Take Place

Warner Bros and Legendary film Dune 2 returning to back to Arrakis this year. Though the trailer for the series’ second installment is out on 3 May. From the trailer, we get some idea about the cast and plot. Some new entries will take place with the new season which is titled Dune: Part 2. 

The series is centered on the same-name novel written by Frank Herbert. According to Timothee who will play the main character, the film has complete sh00ting in 2022 December.

It may be possible that the series will remake one again to cover the story of Frank Herbert’s second book Dune Messiah. We describe here everything about the series release date and cast. 

When Will We Expect Dune 2?

Dune 2 is set to be released on November 3, 2023. The film has shoot in Budapest, Abu Dhabi, Jordan, and Italy, and now it is completed its production. So, with cross fingers wait for the cold winters and Dune: Part 2.

According to the synopsis of the story:

“This follow-up film will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.”

Does the Cast Remain the Same in Dune: Part Two?

When a film announced its sequel we can expect that the cast will be the same, but some new entries can take place with new characters, according to script demand. So with the same expectation, you are going to get Dune’s second installment having some new faces.

You can confirm the cast from the below tweet:

Timothée Chalamet appeared as Paul Atreides with his female partner Chani, played by Zendaya. Other characters who will reprise are Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, Stellan Skarsgård as the villainous Baron Harkonnen, and Dave Bautista as the Baron’s nephew Glossu Rabban (aka ‘The Beast’).

Bardem also has a bigger role in the second season as he said:

“I have a small role if there is such a thing, as the second part of the book the role will be bigger and I would love you to do it if you want to and I said, of course, I want to. I don’t care if there’s a second movie or not.”

But some characters you can’t see now like Oscar Isaac back as Duke Leto Atreides or Babs Olusanmokun as Jamis, as they were kἰlled in the first part. We are not clear yet about whether Josh Brolin’s Gurney Halleck and Stephen McKinley Henderson’s Thufir Hawat will appear or not as House Harkonnen’s attack on Arrakis.

Dune: Part Two New Entries

But the team confirmed several new faces including Elvis star Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV and Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot.

Chalamet praised Pugh, as he said:

“She’s an incredible actor. She was incredible in Dune seriously incredible. She brought a gravitas to the role.”

Austin Butler join the cast and it is confirmed by the post provided below:

Chalamet also praises Zendaya, as she gets a bigger role this time. Chalamet said:

 “She’s bringing exactly what she brought to the first one which was incredible but in greater abundance.”

Souheila Yacoub playing as Fremen warrior Shishakli which she confirmed in 2022. Tim Blake Nelson also appeared in a secret role announced in 2023. 

Costume Designer Jacqueline West said that the sequel will explore the different worlds of Dune and all the worlds get expanded. She explained:

“It was about creating three separate, different-looking worlds and also revisiting the Bene Gesserits, the age-old ones with these costumes that almost look like Egyptian mummies. I think it’s visually stunning, the sets, the cinematography and the concepts.”
