In this essay, Alexandra “Alex” Cooper describes the intimate and heartfelt proposal made by her future husband, Matt Kaplan.

Cooper said in an interview published Monday by W Magazine that Kaplan had coordinated with her publicist to arrange a photo session for the magazine that she had assumed would accompany the feature about her.

“I remember the shoot feeling like it had no direction, and I could tell everyone was stalling,” the “Call Her Daddy” podcast host remembered, adding that the plan got her “out of the house, out of [her] sweatpants, and in hair, makeup, and nails.”

The 28-year-old exclaimed, “When I came home that night, my entire house was covered in candles, lit all over,” with music playing and a scavenger hunt leading to Matt’s proposal.

Checkout the post-Alex Cooper shared about how her fiancé’s proposal:

Cooper claimed that her 39-year-old “Mr. S*xy Zoom Man,” CEO of production company Ace Entertainment, Kaplan, had “photos or mementos” from their three-year romance spread out throughout “every room” of their Studio City, California, mansion.

She revealed that the final clue was a bottle of champagne and a card reading “Meet me down by the Buddha,” citing their shared belief that moving the “500-pound Buddha” statue placed in the home’s courtyard by the previous owner would be “such bad luck.”

Cooper went down and was greeted by their “two dogs in little bow ties.”

After this, Kaplan “proposed by getting down on one knee and telling her, “You’re my soulmate, the love of my life. I’ve become a better man because of you. Please accept my marriage proposal. …and gave the media mogul a huge, old, oval-cut diamond ring from the 1920s.

Cooper claims that she “blacked out” during the “very surreal” event that occurred on March 3; she remembers saying “yes,” but not much more.

By way of a professional Zoom meeting in the year 2020, Cooper was introduced to Kaplan, the film producer most recently responsible for the “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” film series.

He rapidly won her heart and influenced her to reconsider her stance on marriage. Many of the marriages I’ve seen around me are toxic and unstable. She told W, “A lot of people settle, and I refuse to do that.”

“But it was crystal clear to me that yes, I would love to marry Matt, once our relationship progressed to the point where it was time.”

While on a date with Kaplan in November, Cooper said she told him, and he was “beaming.”
