As reported by The Associated Press, Sulli didn’t respond to calls, her manager went to her house in Seongnam, South Korea where he found her. He stated that the inquiry was underway and that no assumptions will be made regarding the cause of deἀth.
No evidence of wrongdoing was found. He further claimed that no suἰcide note was discovered by authorities. Billboard’s K-pop columnist Jeff Benjamin said:
“She actually was an outspoken star in an industry that probably would have rather had her stay quiet and Sulli was recognized for being somewhat frank in an industry that often rewarded glossy conformity”.
Some of the artist’s supporters said they were worried about her mental health due to the negative feedback she had received online. Originally known as Choi Jin-ri, Sulli changed her name to Sulli after she was recruited to join the girl group, a major K-pop agency in South Korea.
Mr. Benjamin speculated that Sulli would have enjoyed the band because it was more eccentric than other lady bands. The group was formed in 2009. She quit the band officially in 2015 to pursue other interests including acting.
