Almost a decade after the last Twilight film, Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster franchise is rumored to be receiving the miniseries treatment.
According to Entertainment Tonight, production on a TV series based on Stephanie Meyer’s best-selling “Twilight” novels has begun. As the news source pointed out on Wednesday, April 19th, the possible project is still in its infancy without a network, platform or writer attached.
The production of the series was announced in a Tweet that was shared by the film industry’s official Twitter account:

Meyer at the time of the series’ inception in 2005, debuted with Twilight. After the success of her vampire novels, Lionsgate promptly optioned the rights to adapt them into a film series.
The series will be written by producer Sinead Daly for Lionsgate TV, as reported by the Hollywood Reporter. It is unclear whether the series will be a recreation of the movies based on Meyer’s books or an original interpretation.
The phenomenally successful film series starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner was based on vampire romantἰc fantasy novels. Collectively, the five films in the “Twilight Saga” have earned more than $3.4 billion around the world.
This follows the announcement that a “Harry Potter” TV series would be produced by Warner Bros. Discovery for the Max streaming service. According to children’s book retailer Scholastic, J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter book series has sold 600 million copies worldwide.
The 10-season series will act as a “faithful adaptation” of the books. With a fresh cast and a whole new way, Warner Bros. Discovery hopes to do justice to the seven original books in the series. In 2008, a film titled Twilight made its debut.
Kristen Stewart played Bella Swan, Robert Pattinson played Edward Cullen, Taylor Lautner played Jacob Black, Peter Facinelli played Carlisle Cullen, Ashley Greene played Alice Cullen, Nikki Reed played Rosalie Hale, Kellan Lutz played Emmett Cullen, Jackson Rathbone played Jasper Hale and Elizabeth Reaser played Esme Cullen.
The film was directed by Catherine Hardwicke. The enormous success of Twilight spawned four more films in the series: New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn Part 1 and Breaking Dawn Part 2.
After Bella Swan relocated to Forks, Washington, she rapidly became close to vampire Edward Cullen and his clan, and the story of Twilight began to unfold. As Bella and Edward’s love blossomed into a star-crossed marriage in Breaking Dawn, they welcomed Mackenzie Foy’s Renesmee into the world.
