Four individuals were kἰlled and at least 28 others were ἰnjured at a Sweet 16 party on Saturday, April 15, 2023 night, according to authorities. The attack took place in downtown Dadeville around 10:34 p.m.
Sergeant Jeremy J. Burkett stated:
“There were four lives tragἰcally lost in this incident and there’s been a multitude of injurἰes. The victims had a wide variety of injurἰes and that some of them are still in serious condition.
Burkett remarked You have to realize this is also a very fluid scenario. All day long we’ve been receiving new information and now we’re working to verify and fully comprehend who was present at the venue. Burkett stated that they are still trying to get information from witnesses by talking to them.
Police did not reveal any information regarding a suspect or a possible motive. The sergeant also requested that anyone with knowledge contact law police in Alabama. Burkett emphasized:
“I can’t emphasize how important it is that you spread this information.”
Ben Hayes, the football team’s chaplain and Keenan Cooper, the party’s DJ reported that Philstavious Dowdell, the brother of the birthday girl was one among those slain when the sh00ting erupted.
Cooper told CNN that he did not hear any sort of argument or commotion before the incident. He said:
“It’s really sad to see all those kids that were sh0t and the ones that are deceased and seeing all those b0dies at the front door, all those kids are probably going to be traumatized.”
Hospital officials stated on Sunday, April 16, 2023, that at least 15 youths were hospitalized for gunsh0t w0unds with several being listed in severe condition.
Spokesperson Heidi Smith confirmed that six of the fifteen teenagers admitted to Lake Martin Community Hospital in Dadeville had been treated and discharged.
The other nine have been sent to various other hospitals for treatment. Five of the teenagers were listed as being in critical condition and four as being in stable condition at the most recent update.
Susan Foy, a spokeswoman for the city of Alexander City stated that the hospital received multiple patients after the sh00ting at a birthday party in Dadeville. These patients were either discharged or moved to other hospitals. The police have not provided any details on the attacker or the motive for the ἀttack.
