Who is Jack Crusher?

In Season 3 of Picard, Jack Crusher and his mother Beverly (Gates McFadden) act as a galactic Robin Hood, delivering much-needed medical supplies and humanitarian relief to planets outside the Federation’s jurisdiction. Yet as we learn in “Disengage,”

Beverly Crusher and Jean-Luc Picard also have a biological son named Jack, but Picard was unaware of this fact. Is It True that Jack Crusher is a Clone?

Jack Crusher

This new Jack Crusher is a clone of Beverly’s ex-husband, also named Jack Crusher, according to one bizarre fan theory that circulated after the premiere of Season 3 of Picard. Beverly’s spouse Jack was killed in action while Picard commanded the USS Stargazer, as revealed in The Next Generation.

The original Jack Crusher, portrayed by Doug Wert, was Wesley’s father in the Star Trek universe. This Jack only appeared twice: once as a holodeck message to Wesley in “Family” from The Next Generation, and again as a dead body in a flashback in “Violations.”

According to the TNG episode “Attached,” Jean-Luc had affection for Beverly Crusher in the past but never pursued them because Jack was his best friend. Beverly and Jean-on-again, Luc’s off-again relationship were made possible by Jack’s death before TNG.

The adventures of Jack and Jean-Luc aboard the Stargazer have been the subject of several comic books and novels, such as the novel Reunion and the 2019 one-shot comic book IDW 20/20 Star Trek: TNG, which also featured a much younger Beverly Crusher.
