Nickelodeon’s The Thundermans are back, and the original cast members will be appearing in the feature sequel The Thundermans Return.
In an announcement made by Nickelodeon Studios, it was revealed that filming for the movie adaptation of the successful live-action superhero comedy will begin in April in Los Angeles. In the film, the titular superpowered family will lead the charge into a new era of fighting crime.
“It’s been so much fun to go back to Hiddenville with this classic superhero family and original ensemble,” said Zack Olin and Shauna Phelan, the executive producers of Nickelodeon and Awesomeness Live-Action. Both the people who watched the show when it first aired on Nickelodeon and the others who are only now learning about it thanks to streaming services will enjoy this film.
Kira Kosarin, Jack Griffo, Addison Riecke, Diego Velazquez, Maya Le Clark, Chris Tallman, and Rosa Blasi are all scheduled to return to their respective roles from the first film. Phoebe (Kosarin) and Max (Griffo), who play twins, are living the superhero dream in the movie, but after a botched “rescue,” they are sent to Hiddenville once more.
Although Hank (Tallman) and Barba (Blasi) are happy to be back, Billy (Velazquez) and Nora (Riecke) are excited to return to a “regular” high school experience, and Max and Phoebe are eager to reclaim their “superhero” status. Viewers may look forward to the return of fan-favorite heroes, the introduction of new villains, and the return to some previously seen settings.

For those who aren’t familiar with The Thundermans, it was a Nickelodeon series that started in October 2013 and ran for four seasons until 2018, and it was the highest-rated show on television among children aged 2-11 and children aged 6-11. The half-hour scripted series, created and executive produced by Jed Spingarn, follows superhero twins Phoebe and Max as they tried to keep their identities a secret from their friends, family, and the rest of the world.
