In my opinion, Practical Magic is among the best (and most underappreciated) films dedicated to the Halloween season. As Friends will be moving from Netflix to the soon-to-be-launched streaming channel HBO Max, the announcement that the network is working on a prequel is fantastic news. Comedy, drama, romance, and horror all come together in the story of Sally (Sandra Bullock) and Gillian Owens (Nicole Kidman), two sisters born with magical powers they try to avoid – until they can’t. And, the hair is fantastic.
A pilot episode of the one-hour show Laws of Magic has been commissioned by the streaming service. Focusing on Jet, Franny, and Vincent Owens, three siblings with “abnormalities that have kept them isolated,” the show will air on Netflix.” They quickly learn that their ancestors were witches.
The content was inspired by a read. Laws of Magic and Practical Magic, both written by Alice Hoffman, will serve as the basis for the show. Contrary to the 1998 picture, this one won’t be set in Massachusetts. It has been reported by Variety that the 1960s will serve as the backdrop for the upcoming Netflix series Laws of Magic.
There are clear parallels to the film. Viewers of Practical Magic will recall the two aunts played by Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing who wielded incredible power on behalf of stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. The narrative of Franny and Jet’s beginnings may be found in Laws of Magic.

The author of this series has a track record of creating compelling female protagonists. Melissa Rosenberg, who created Jessica Jones, will serve as showrunner and executive producer.
