Although Mick Jagger is widely recognized as a rock legend his relationship with Melanie Hamrick is relatively private. When Mick Jagger met the ex-ballerina in 2014, he was already the father of seven children. It took the couple two years to get married, but in 2016, they welcomed Jagger’s eighth child, a son named Deveraux Octavian Basil.
According to an interview she gave to Marie Claire in 2017, Melanie Hamrick revealed that,
Before the birth of her first son, she had a really simple life and was completely unprepared for motherhood. I’m not a good person because I’ve never held a child. If I did, everyone would laugh at me. Babies seem to have appeared out of nowhere.
As an additional point, she remarked, You don’t become a ballet dancer thinking about having children. Hamrick doesn’t talk much about Jagger on social media, despite the fact that the two are in the public eye as a couple. She rarely posts anything unrelated to dance or her son, Deveraux.

When did Mick Jagger and His Girlfriend Meet?
In February 2014, while on tour with both the American Ballet Theatre and the Rolling Stones, Hamrick and her friends had the opportunity to meet Jagger backstage at a Stones concert in Tokyo.
It wasn’t until June of that year when Jagger invited Hamrick to join him on tour through Zurich that the two started dating. Hamrick welcomed her son, named Deveraux “Devi” Octavian Basil Jagger on December 8th, 2016. After older siblings, Karis, Jade, Elizabeth, James, Georgia May, Gabriel and Lucas, Deveraux is Jagger and Hamrick’s first child together.
After Deveraux’s arrival, the couple’s representative issued a statement. According to the statement,
Melanie Hamrick and Mick Jagger are both delighted after the birth of their son in New York City on November 15. Mick attended the birth in the hospital. We ask that the media respect the privacy of the mother and her newborn at this time.
Deveraux, like his mom and dad before him has developed a love of the performing arts as he has matured. Along with his mom, he has been spotted at the ballet and at concerts where his dad has been performing. According to a 2019 interview with The New York Times, Hamrick gushed about her son’s love of dance.
“Not yet, as I don’t have him enrolled in any courses. He’s a ukulele player and composer. He inherited the trait. Definitely. I hope he’ll take the bait and go for it. To make some noise with his feet, like a little boy might? As a matter of fact, he can’t get enough of those music lessons.”
Hamrick has been dancing ever since she was a little girl. She attended the Kirov Academy of Ballet on a full scholarship for five years, studying under renowned ballerina Alla Sizova and teachers Nicolai Morozov and Adrienne Dellas.
