NFL defensive end Joseph Ossai was born in Nigeria on April 13, 2000. He now plays for the Cincinnati Bengals (NFL). Ossai, who was born in Nigeria, immigrated to the United States in 2010 and enrolled at the University of Texas to play football. The Bengals selected him in Round 3 of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Ossai’s family originally hails from Nigeria, but they uprooted to Conroe, Texas when he was 10 years old. He went to Oak Ridge High School, where he participated in both basketball and football. He had 58 tackles, eight sacks, 15 tackles for loss, and three forced fumbles as a senior, earning him first-team All-District 12-6A and first-team All-Greater Houston honors from the Houston Chronicle. Despite receiving offers to play college football from Texas A&M, Notre Dame, and Oregon, 4-star recruit Ossai chose to sign with Texas.

Ossai started two of the Longhorns’ 14 games as a freshman and finished with 20 tackles, 1 sack and 1 forced fumble. As a sophomore, he blocked a punt, recorded five sacks, intercepted two passes, defended against a third and caused a fumble.
Before his junior year, Ossai was already on the watchlists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, the Chuck Bednarik Award, and the Lott IMPACT Trophy. During his junior year, he recorded 55 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, and 5 sacks. Ossai revealed his intention to enter the 2021 NFL draught on December 14, 2020, skipping both the Texas 2020 Bowl game and his sophomore season.
