On Tuesday, four people from a Tennessee church were killed and the head pastor was injured when their small plane crashed while approaching an airfield in Texas. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the single-engine Piper PA-46 crashed in a field south of the Yoakum airport. Yoakum, Texas, lies around 100 miles east of San Antonio and is home to over 6,000 people.

Sgt. Ruben San Miguel of the Texas Department of Public Safety informed the Victoria Advocate that one of the five passengers managed to escape the plane and was subsequently transferred to a hospital. About 40 miles south of Yoakum, you’ll find the city of Victoria.

Germantown, Tennessee’s Harvest Church said that Senior Pastor Kennon Vaughan was doing well in a hospital in Texas.

The church added: “The latest reports from the doctors are all positive. Kennon is currently at one of the top trauma hospitals in the country and we are so thankful for God’s provision. Kennon still needs to have some surgeries to repair injuries to his abdomen so please continue to pray for a full recovery.”

Bill Garner the church’s executive vice president elder Steve Tucker and young adults Tyler Patterson and Tyler Springer were named as the four victims by the church.

In a statement posted to its website, Harvest Church said, “All were cherished members of Harvest Church and their death currently leaves us without the correct words to articulate our grief.”
