The circumstances surrounding the deaths of a mother and her two young sons in the Pontiac woods are detailed by the investigating officers. Cannady, according to the police disappeared from her apartment on Friday with her three kids, ages 10, 3 and 9 years old (Kyle and Malik Milton).
Bouchard said that between Friday and Sunday, multiple calls were made to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office about a woman and her children who were out in the cold without the proper clothing. The daughter of Cannady reportedly told someone that her family had died at 3:10 p.m. on Sunday (January 15) prompting authorities to dispatch deputies to the 200 block of Branch Street.
“A girl who was 10 years old knocked on a door and told deputies that her family had been killed in a field,” reports said. The empty fields near the Lakeside neighborhoods were combed by authorities. The dead bodies of Cannady and her two sons were discovered in a field about a mile from their apartment.

The Mother And Her Sons Autopsy Report
The mother and her two young sons died of hypothermia, as determined by the autopsy. It was determined that their deaths were unintentional. Accidental/preventable, everyone summed up his opinion. Sheriff’s Office personnel would check the area, but no one was ever found. The family is suspected to have been lost in the cold for at least some of Friday, all of Saturday and some of Sunday. When asked by reporters what the mother had told her children to do in such a situation the surviving daughter revealed that she had told them to run anytime anybody approached.
