How Did Amy Grant and Vince Gill Meet?
In 1993, when both celebrities were struggling for their career, both performed together at a Christmas special on a TV channel. Their first album is “House of Love” which was released after one when it was made. But at that time both married another person and had their own personal lives.
“The connection [was] there [between us], that was kind of rare,” the “Look at Us” singer said in an interview with Larry King in 2003. “The hang was easy. The conversation was easy.”
Some years later they both met at a Christmas special but now both divorced their life partners. The audience already knows about their chemistry from their songs. They married in 2000. But now Amy had three children, Matthew, Millie, and Sarah from her ex-husband Gary Chapman. Vince also has one daughter from his ex-wife, Janis Oliver. But Vince and Amy together have another daughter Corrina in 2001.
“When Vince and I got married,” Amy explained, “I knew the reality was when you’re putting two lives together, there is no riding off into the sunset. You show up with all of your baggage and all of your ghosts and all of your patterns. Whenever you start over, you can feel like a stranger in your own life for a while. But you keep making choices toward building a life together. You can’t demand it from each other, and if it can be done overnight, it’s not worth anything. But after all these years, it’s so interesting — we’ve found our footing.”
“[She’s] the glue of this whole family,” he said in May 2011. “She bonded all of us in a blood way that really did connect us.”
“In our wedding pictures, all of the children are grim-faced, and understandably so, because these were not their choices,” Amy said. “But from the start, Vince and I promised to love each other well, and in any home, blended or not, if the man and wife are loving each other well, you have a much better chance of parenting well. Vince’s love has empowered me to be a better mom.”
Amy Grant’s Ex-Husband, Gary Chapman
Gary wrote her album title track My Father’s Eyes in 1979. Amy and Gary tied a marriage note in 1982, but Amy always said that their relationship was very awkward from the beginning. “It had been rocky from the get-go. I’d been holding steady for 15 years in something that was not easy to hold steady,” she recalled in 2011. The reason s her success is that she said that her husband is jealous of her achievements.
And later Gary also admitted it. When he saw the audience was crazy for Amy, he ignored them, even stopping her during a concert by saying that he was boring them. “I had a lot of reasons to be angry,” he confessed. “I don’t think any of them were valid, but they were to me at the time. I know that I felt overlooked.”
He behaved like a demon after marriage because he is drug addicted. “I had two distinctly different lives. Different sets of friends, different likes, dislikes, actions, everything,” he said.
They lived together for seventeen years and in 1999 filed for divorce. “I don’t love you anymore,” he claimed she informed him. “You’re the biggest mistake I’ve ever made… I’ve given my heart to another man.”

Vince Gill’s Ex-Wife, Janis Oliver
Vince and Janis got married in 1980, Janis is a major singer in Sweetheart of the Rodeo band with her sister Kristine Arnold. They both released eight albums with Columbia records in 1985. With signing Janis is also a versatile actress. She appeared in My Three Sons, maverick in 1994.
Janis Oliver “We were both married, and though we were crazy about each other, we thought, ‘Well that’s not our life,’” Vince recalled. “The hard truth was that we never thought for a minute that we would end up together.”
In 1999 Vince got divorced from Janis and married Amy in 2000. “There’s not a better place to make music. I love doing all those shows with Vince,” she told ABC News. “No kidding, I fall in love with him all over again every year, just how he plays, his wit.”
Why was Amy Grant Hospitalised?
In August 2022, Amy was hospitalized because she fell off a bicycle, in Nashville. She went unconscious for ten minutes before being taken to the hospital. After her recovery, Vince paid tribute to her in Ryman Auditorium during a concert.

“We’re going to do this song that I wrote for my wife, Amy,” Vince said. “We haven’t been doing it much, but because of her accident and everything she’s been going through we’ve been thinking a lot about her. I thought how sweet it would be for her youngest to sing the song I wrote for her.”
