Deshaun Watson was traded from the Texans to the Browns but his NFL future is starting to look dark as the number of lawsuits against him is going up. More than 20 incidents of s*ual assault on the quarterback date back to 2019, even before he was picked by the Browns team.
More and more accusers have come forward to disclose the events and the NFL is continuing its investigation with Deshaun Watson, and it looks like there is no end in sight to its probe.
Who Is Deshaun Watson And Why Is All The Buzz Around Him?
Deshaun Watson is an American football quarterback, currently playing for the Cleveland Browns in the NFL. His career started with the Houston Texans and he was selected in the first-round draft in 2017. His childhood has been around football too as he played for the Red Elephants football team in high school since 2010. Over the years in his high-school career, he set numerous state records and won the state championship and many accolades too. He was named the “2014 Player to Watch” and “2014 Top 100 Recruit.” Deshaun Watson was also called the Junior All-American and he went on to join Clemson University in 2012.
What Did Deshaun Watson Do? Are The Claims True?
The biggest question that looms large right now is, “What did Deshaun Watson do?” Well, the allegations against him are numerous and are now over a year old. It is almost on the verge of spanning across two NFL seasons, making people more worried. The first three lawsuits were filed back in March 2021 by Houston attorney Tony Buzbee. These three lawsuits were of three different incidents and involved multiple massage therapists. In one of the lawsuits, the Houston attorney also wrote Deshaun Watson’s behavior as a “disturbing pattern of preying on vulnerable women.”
Women have filed lawsuits and accused Watson of s*xual misconduct with them, including inappropriate touching and forced oral s*x.
Deshaun Watson And His First Lawsuit
What did Deshaun Watson do? Not one, not two, but Watson has been accused of 20 different lawsuits. The first one was on behalf of a massage therapist who accused Watson of inappropriate s*xual conduct and touching during a massage session in March 2020. Deshaun Watson publicly denied the accusations and claimed on Twitter that he has “never treated a woman with anything but the utmost respect”. He even said he feels the suit was a result of a “publicity-seeking” lawyer. However, the woman also reported that Watson later called her to apologize for his actions. On March 17, the Texans released a statement regarding the event and said they “hope to learn more” about the incident.
“We became aware of a civil lawsuit involving Deshaun Watson through a social media post last night. This is the first time we have heard of the matter, and we hope to learn more soon. We take accusations of this nature that involve anyone within the Houston Texans organization seriously. We will await further information before making any additional statements on this incident.”, said the Texans.
A lot of women came forward eventually leading to a multitude of lawsuits being filed against him. On March 18, the third and one of the most serious lawsuits against Deshaun Watson was filed. It was reported by a massage therapist that Watson assaulted her s*xually in an office building in December 2020. She also mentioned that Watson forced her to perform oral s*x on him, which led to the blacking out of the plaintiff out of fear. Although this was the third lawsuit filed against him, more and more came up eventually, leading to as many as 25 lawsuits by August 2022.
Buzbee filed the 25th lawsuit against Deshaun Watson on June 6, 2022, in Harris County, Texas. As per the suit, the event dates back to August of 2020 and the massage therapist was subjected to serious s*xual assault in her second session with Watson. As per the plaintiff, Watson masturbated in front of her and ejaculated on her during the appointment. The lawsuit also says, “Watson offered no apology or explanation for his conduct” and instead went up, got dressed, paid her $150, and left. The plaintiff not only felt traumatized but was left humiliated.
