Is Rob Gronkowski Not Returning To NFL

Even though Rob Gronkowski has come out of retirement previously, this time, it looks like he’s staying out of football for good. Adam Schefter reports that the Buccaneers do not anticipate the return of Rob Gronkowski this season.

In June, the star tight end said he was leaving the NFL after 11 seasons. After spending his whole career with the Patriots and Tom Brady, he retired in 2019, only to come out of retirement for the 2020 season and join Brady in Tampa. They were hoping he’d repeat his previous efforts, but that’s not going to happen.

According to reports, the circumstances would have to be ideal to return to the NFL, which is a long shot. They need to be in the thick of things for a Super Bowl.

The 33-year-old is regarded as one of the all-time greats at his position and has won four Super Bowls, all with Brady. It would appear that he has finally given up on football, but there is still a long season ahead of us.

On Sunday at 8:20 p.m. ET, the Buccaneers will kick off their season against the Cowboys on NBC.
