Ted Lasso Season 3: Is A Major Character Going To Die In New Season?

To the playing field! Season 2 of Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso ended in October 2021, but fans were already eagerly anticipating Ted Lasso season 3. Jason Sudeikis, the show’s producer and star expressed his gratitude for their support from the public before the 2021 Emmys, where the show was expected to take home four prizes.

“Flattered. We just can’t accept it. “I mean, we’re trying to make people laugh and have a good time and do it in a specific way,” he explained on the red carpet in September 2021. The fact that other people have found value in our work is a pleasant surprise. It’s been great, what with the critical acclaim and the Oscar nominations.

In his acceptance speech for the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, the former Saturday Night Live star raved about the show’s uniqueness.

“I appreciate it a lot. He said, “So yeah, a heck of a year.” I think the show is primarily about the importance of family. Teachers and mentors are the focus of this series. The characters in this show are all teammates. Without those three things, I wouldn’t be here today.

Fans want more Ted Lasso after season 2, but Bill Lawrence, Jason Sudeikis, and Brendan Hunt had already said they intended to wrap up the series after season 3.

“The tale that’s being told, that three-season arc is one that I see, know, and comprehend,” the Portlandia alum said in June 2021. I’m relieved they’re prepared to shell out cash for all three seasons. What comes next, nobody knows. I’m not sure.

Hunt, who also plays Coach Beard, said, “I think we’ve always wanted it to be three seasons. Given the program’s well received, I think it would be awesome if the producers stuck to their original plan of producing only three seasons.

Although Ted Lasso was still generating a lot of buzzes online, Lawrence hinted that they might change their minds about their initial strategy.

After the second season finale of Cougar Town aired in October 2021, the show’s creator said, “What’s challenging to understand for me as a writer who is used to writing network comedy, is, this was the conclusion of the season, but the midway point of the program.” Here’s what we know about Ted Lasso Season 3 so far:

Ted Lasso Season 3 Expected Release Date

The series is expected to resume airing on Apple TV+ in 2022, but the date is not revealed yet. Season five has been in the works since September in the writers’ room, with production beginning in January 2022. Backstage at the 2021 Emmys, Sudeikis stated there would be 12 episodes after winning.

As the comic put it, “They, being Apple, asked for 12 episodes and this time, ahead of time.” This is according to Deadline. Now that we’ve planned it out, there will be 12 episodes total.

Ted Lasso Season 3 Story

Potential plot points for season three include Ted’s recovery from his assistant coach Nate Shelley’s betrayal (Nick Mohammed). Nate and Ted have a crucial conversation after Nate tells Trent about Ted’s panic attack.

At the end of the episode, Rebecca’s ex-boyfriend, Rupert Mannion, offers Nate the head coaching position for the West Ham United football team (Anthony Head). The relationship between Roy and Keeley went through some tricky patches in season 2, setting the stage for further conflict in season 3.

Fans also wondered if they were just imagining things when they saw Ted and Rebecca together.

Is Ted Lasso Season 3 The Last Season?

Though the show was only supposed to run for three seasons, viewers were hoping that the producers would be willing to keep the series going. Goldstein (who plays Roy Kent and is also a writer on the program) hinted in a June 2022 interview with the UK’s Sunday Times that the following season would be the final. The show’s ending is now written, and he told the media source. It was supposed to be a trio. Warning: this article contains a cliffhanger.

Is A Major Character Going To Die

Goldstein joked about maybe murdering off one of the show’s most adored characters in an interview in August 2022.

“I told Toheeb [Jimoh] a long time ago how his character [Sam] dies,” the Emmy winner joked. Briefly, I said, “You died by a helicopter.” Oh, I’m in a helicopter crash? He asked. And I answered, “No, you crash into a stationary helicopter.” You accidentally bump into it while it’s off. “And that’s the way it ends for you.” That’s the end of the story (no spoilers).”
