Valhalla Season 2 Release Date

Not only has Vikings: Valhalla been renewed for a second season, but it has also been renewed for a third season.

This early renewal is due to the show’s massive upfront order when it was initially announced. A total of 24 episodes have been commissioned.

As part of this transaction, Netflix also obtained the licensing rights to the original Vikings series, with Netflix UK and Netflix US slated to release seasons 1-6 in the coming years.

Vikings: Valhalla will return to Netflix for two extra seasons on March 9th, 2022.

Netflix has not revealed a precise release date for Vikings: Valhalla season 2 at publication, other than a general 2023 release date. However, we can make an informed prediction as to when the second season will premiere.

With filming on the second season wrapping in November 2021, the second season will likely premiere on Netflix in early 2023, between January and March 2023.

Valhalla Season 2 Cast

Sam Corlett will reprise his role as Leif Eriksson in Vikings: Valhalla, with Frida Gustavsson as Freyds Eirksdóttir and Leo Suter as Harald Sigurdsson.

Additionally, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson’s Olaf is expected to return, as well Soren Pilmark’s King Forkbeard and Bradley Freegard’s King Canute. While Jarl Haakon is killed off in season 1, her actor Caroline Henderson has suggested that we may see more of her in season 2.

“We don’t know for certain that she won’t return,” Henderson told Metro. “She could reappear in the form of a ghost or anything.”

Additionally, it is conceivable that descendants of Vikings characters will return in subsequent seasons. When asked during a Reddit AMA whether Ivar’s descendants may play a role in the program, showrunner Stuart said, “A fascinating question.

While plotting season 2, I did a lot of math to determine where we would be with Ivar’s progeny. Given that future seasons will have our Vikings traveling worldwide, anything is conceivable.”

Valhalla Season 2 Trailer

While we are aware that a second season is in the works, there is currently no trailer to whet our hunger. Netflix typically publishes a trailer around a month before a series premieres, so we’ll have to wait for now. We will keep you informed.

Valhalla Season 2 Plot

“What I appreciate about the launchpad for season two is that we’re not going back to Kattegat, and everything’s going to be OK,” Stuart told GamesRadar+, implying that the port town will face significant problems and unrest.

That is an understatement. The first season concluded with several pieces of the chessboard dispersed across Scandinavia and Europe in search of glory – resulting in the change of many power dynamics.

Kattegat had a new monarch — for a little while. Olaf held command until he noticed Forkbeard’s fleet landing. With Haakon’s departure, anticipate a power vacuum — and maybe battles – over Kattegat’s future leader.

That is unlikely to be Harald, though. He and his on-again, off-again sweetheart Freydis barely made it out of Kattegat alive. After siding with Kre, the Norwegian prince has become the public enemy number one in the eyes of certain Vikings.

Meanwhile, Freydis must contend with her newly acquired status as ‘The Last’ – and prospective savior of the Viking people.

In England, Emma has reclaimed the throne and has – for the time being, at least – a devoted friend in Godwin who is assisting her in warding off any efforts at vengeance from lfgifu’s direction. One growing threat is Mercia, and who knows how long they can be contained?
