The Split Season 3

The Split Season 3

The Split Season 3: The Split, BBC One’s hit legal drama, will return for a third and final season, with creator Abi Morgan directing the final installment. We also won’t have to wait long, as the BBC recently announced that season three of The Split would premiere on April 4. The premiere will air on BBC One at 9 pm, with all subsequent episodes available to stream on iPlayer.

Season three’s first photos have also been released, revealing Nicola Walker’s Hannah Nathanson and Stephen Mangan’s Nathan and the return of Barry Atsma as Christie and the series debut of Lara Pulver as Kate, a child psychologist. Take a deep breath, however, because the BBC has revealed that the trilogy will conclude with “the most dramatic and heartbreaking series to date,” in which we will see our favorite television divorce lawyer confronted with her divorce.

Annabel Scholey, who portrays Defoe’s sister Nina on The Split, described the season as “more chaotic” and “emotional” than previous seasons. “Series three was incredible… It’s more chaotic than the first two seasons, everyone has more drama, and it’s very emotional,” Annabel told Digital Spy. “I wish I could say Nina is more even-tempered, but she most emphatically is not; she does tend to leap from disaster to disaster, which is great fun for me to play.”

Meanwhile, Abi Morgan commented on her directorial debut, saying, “Since so much of a writer’s life is solitary, it’s been an absolute joy to direct and to finally get to work with the brilliant cast and crew and be a part of the magic that happens between first read through and final edit that I normally don’t get to see.”

“Terrifying, as I’ve worked with some truly great directors in my time, but it was an honor to join Dee Koppang O’Leary’s Split directorial team. After trying it, I’m hoping it won’t be my last.” The drama is set in the fast-paced, complicated world of London’s high-end divorce circuit.

It chronicles the lives of the three Defoe sisters – Hannah (Nicola Walker), Nina (Annabel Scholey), and Rose (Fiona Button) – as well as their formidable mother, Ruth (Deborah Findlay). Here’s everything we know about The Split’s third season thus far.

The Split Season 3 Cast

We already know that the three Defoe sisters – Hannah (Nicola Walker), Nina (Annabel Scholey), and Rose (Fiona Button) – will return, as will their mother Ruth (Deborah Findlay). Stephen Mangan returns as Hannah’s soon-to-be ex-husband Nathan, while Barry Atsma reprises his role as ‘the other man,’ a.k.a. Christie.

Lara Pulver, from Sherlock, joins the cast as Kate, a “leading child psychologist whose arrival adds a whole new layer of complexity to Morgan’s multi-layered examination of divorce and modern marriage,” according to the BBC.

The Split Season 3 Plot

The new series will pick up ten months after Nathan and Hannah’s marriage has ended. With Hannah’s betrayal finally revealed, the two professional divorce attorneys negotiate their divorce. However, Hannah realizes how much she stands to lose as the stakes rise.

According to the BBC, “adding fuel to the fire, Christie (Barry Atsma), the catalyst for the breakdown of Hannah and Nathan’s marriage, will also return for the final series, which will see Hannah and Nathan’s previously rock-solid marriage unravel as they attempt to reach an amicable separation agreement.”

“As Hannah and Nathan divide their twenty years together, Hannah confronts what she is about to lose, and a shocking revelation changes the stakes dramatically. As battle lines are redrawn, we wonder whether their dream of a ‘good divorce’ is possible. Will they be able to navigate their way through the wreckage, or is The Split too deep to repair?”

Abi Morgan, the show’s creator, teased Hannah’s “heartbreak” and further conflict between the siblings, saying: “It’s wonderful to be back writing for the Defoe Family and delving once more into the complications of their lives and those of their clients.” Hannah faces the heartbreak of her divorce in the concluding series of this bittersweet trilogy and the battle to save her family and marriage.

“As Noble Hale and Defoe rack up more billable hours in the world’s divorce capital, siblings clash, past mistakes are exposed, and hearts are broken.”
