Who is Alexei Navalny’s Daughter Daria?
Daria Navalnaya, also known as Dasha, is the daughter of Alexei Navalny and Yulia Navalnaya. She was born in 2001 and was followed by her brother Zakhar in 2008. In 2019, Daria enrolled at Stanford University in California to study psychology.
In 2021, she collected her father’s Sakharov Prize from the European Parliament. This honor is the highest recognition of human rights in the European Union. Daria follows in her activist father’s footsteps by becoming an influential figure on social media.
Her optimistic outlook on Russia’s future has been featured in several interviews and written in publications. What Did Daria Say About His Father?
Daria has often discussed her father’s fight against corruption in the Russian government. During the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2023, Daria discussed her father in an interview. She told journalist Erin Burnett that she would “not stop fighting” until Putin stopped the war and freed her father and other political prisoners in Russia.
In August 2023, Alexei received a sentence of nineteen years in jail for his antagonism to the Kremlin, which had landed him in prison several times before. He was convicted of many offenses including establishing an extremist group and providing financial support to extremist militants.
He had already been serving an 11-and-a-half-year term for fraud and other accusations which he had contested when this punishment was handed down. Daria discussed her experiences of becoming a Russian citizen while growing up.
She spilled the beans on how she and her brother would play a game where they would attempt to outsmart spies on public transit. Daria said:
“We would look around the train and then start chatting with the guy who had the worst camouflage outfit and the black cap and the weird strappy bag on the side, and we would jump out – not out of the train but out of the subway car.”
Daria said that her life was truly “ordinary” until she was 10 years. A change came about in 2011 when her dad was brought into jail. Alexei was given a 15-day jail term “for disobeying a government official” after his detention on December 5, 2011.
Following his unsuccessful bid for Moscow mayor in 2013, he intended to run for president of Russia in 2018 but was disqualified by the country’s electoral commission. Throughout his time as an activist, Russia leveled many accusations against him including contempt of court and theft. Speaking about her father’s various arrests, Daria explained:
“I spoke to my parents and learned that even if the police don’t like us, dad is doing the right thing. I have always been proud of that, even with the fears for his life and ours. He wants the best for his country. He wants my younger brother and me to have a good future in this country.”
Daria revealed how she shares many similarities with her father. She said:
“I have always taken after my father. I talk like him and move like him. Mum often reprimanded me for this. She didn’t want me to adopt his manners. I should be more feminine.”

Daria seems to be a current Stanford University student based on her Instagram. She describes herself as a blogger in her bio for the social media site, where she also proudly declares herself as the daughter of Alexei.
