Zootopia 2

Zootopia is a Disney media franchise that originally started in 2016 with the release of the American animated feature film Zootopia produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures.

The series takes place in the titular city where anthropomorphic mammals coexist, telling the story of an unlikely partnership between a rabbit police officer and a red fox con artist as they uncover a criminal conspiracy. There is a curiosity among its viewers to know about the release date of the upcoming sequel. In this post, you will get all the information related to the sequel.

What is the Zootopia 2 Release Date?

On February 8, 2023, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that a sequel to Zootopia was in the works. Later that day, screenwriter Jared Bush confirmed that he was working on the film, while Josie Trinidad was confirmed as the film’s co-director. Zootopia 2 is hitting cinemas over the Thanksgiving break on November 26, 2025.

What Could be the Story of Zootopia 2?

The first film from 2016 won the Oscar for Best Animated Film and made over $1 billion in revenue. Other than the fact that Zootopia 2, the much anticipated Disney cartoon sequel is officially in production and has a release date. But not much more is known about the sequel.

When Zootopia concluded, Nick had become Judy’s law enforcement partner after completing the police academy. The relationship between Judy and Nick as they collaborate to solve crimes for the city of Zootopia will probably be the focus of the sequel.

This might happen shortly after the first film or years later when their careers have gained more experience. With Judy and Nick’s friendship perhaps becoming more romantic, the tale may expand on their dynamic and relationship from the previous movie.

Who May Appear as Cast in Zootopia 2?

Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps will most likely make a comeback, with Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman lending their voices to the beloved characters. Other supporting cast members from the previous movie, such as DMV clerk Flash Slothmore (Raymond S. Persi), criminal leader Mr. Big (Maurice LaMarche) and Chief Bogo (Idris Elba), possibly make a comeback.

Given the appeal of the original characters, this could be a controversial decision, but Zootopia is a multicultural city with a rich past and a plethora of undiscovered animal personalities and interactions to discover.

Although Disney is expected to bring back Judy and Nick as the main protagonists in Zootopia 2, along with many of the famous supporting cast members—many of whom might be useful as the main pair investigates new cases—this course of action is still feasible.
