When Did Alice Young & Neil deGrasse Tyson Get Married?
While enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin, the two became friends. Alice was pursuing her PhD in Mathematical Physics. Alice and Neil were enrolled in the same General Relativity course. Neil recalls that he first met her during a physics class.
However, it took longer for Alice to notice him because of their disparate approaches, Alice didn’t notice him right away. Neil explained in a PBD Podcast how he applied science to determine whether Alice was the appropriate person for him. He stated:
“I looked at all the coordinates of what I valued in a mate, and we’ve been married 34 years. Once you do this, there was no one else that came close on the scale of anyone else I had dated—even historically dated.”
Alice was the kind of pupil who liked to sit at the front. However, Neil Tyson is more of a back-of-the-classroom kind of man. After a brief courtship, the pair was married in 1988.
