Blizzard made a lot of statements about Overwatch 2 at BlizzCon 2023, which is happening right now in the middle of the US West Coast.

A lot of new content has been revealed such as changes to the competitive mode, new Heroes and themes for the upcoming Battle Pass. However, the most-anticipated Samoan Hero, “Mauga” was the star of the day. This post has everything you need to know about it.

What is Mauga’s Release Date?

It had been said for a few seasons that the Tank Hero was being made and now it’s official. The Tank Hero will be the 39th Hero added to the game. It will have two Gatling guns.

Aaron Keller, the game director for Overwatch 2, announced on the first day of BlizzCon 2023 that Mauga will be playable in Season 8. On the official Twitter account of Overwatch, the news of Mauga’s upcoming was shared with a caption, “It’s Mauga’s world, we’re just living in it”

How You Can Get Mauga?

A few gameplay shots of Mauga were shown by the developers during the Season 8 teaser.

He is accessible for testing in every game mode this weekend for two days with the exception of competition, as of this writing.

According to previous patterns, gamers will probably be able to get their hands on this new Tank Hero for free by either grinding their way to tier 45 or buying the premium Battle pass for 1000 Overwatch money.

What are the Abilities of Mauga?

Two chain guns, a “Gunny” on his left and a “Cha-Cha” on his right are used by this behemoth. Mauga appears to be just another overpowering Overwatch 2 Tank based on appearances.

One of the Overwatch developers told a humorous tale about how they gave the names of the two chainguns via their team chat during a brief Q&A session. We’ve included a tweet below that explains how Mauga’s Weapons, Cha-cha and Gunny, came to be named.

They felt like Mauga was the type that would name both his guns. Even if the leading candidates were “Lefty” and “Righty” they didn’t feel right. They eventually settled on “Cha-Cha,” which is derived from his chaingun’s first three letters. In the same vein, they called the other person “Gunny” because Mauga is brandishing a gun.

“Cha-Cha” is an automated volatile weapon that deals opponents critical damage and “Gunny” is an automatic incendiary chaingun. Additionally, both of Mauga’s abilities are overpowered.

“Overrun” gives him the ability to surge forward, deal damage and stumble through his opponent’s front line. On the opposite side, “Cardiac Overdrive” heals teammates who deal damage to Mauga and lessens the damage that they take.

These skills work in perfect harmony with his passive, “Berserker,” which gives him the ability to deal critical damage and temporarily restore health.
