Oliver Taylor Hawkins was an American musician who was best known for being the drummer for the rock band Foo Fighters. From 1999 to 2021, he made eight studio albums with the band. But he died last year and you can read about him in this post.

When did Taylor Hawkins Die?

Taylor Hawkins died on March 25, 2022 in Bogotá, Colombia. He was there because he was going to play with the Foo Fighters that night.

After Hawkins complained of chest pains, emergency services were called up to his room at the Four Seasons Casa Medina hotel. When medics got there, Hawkins wasn’t moving or responding. They tried CPR, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

What is Taylor Hawkins’ Cause of Death?

The exact reason for Taylor Hawkins’ cause of death is not known yet. Foo Fighters first announced the news of his death.

After one day of his death, Colombian officials said that a preliminary pee toxicology test showed that Hawkins had 10 drugs in his system when he died.

These drugs included THC, opioids, benzodiazepines and tricyclic antidepressants. The National Institute of Forensic Medicine in Colombia said they would continue the medical studies to achieve total clarification of the events that led to the death of Taylor Hawkins.

The office of the attorney general also said they would keep looking into the cause of his death in a timely manner. The official autopsy results hadn’t been released yet, but his friends believe he wasn’t using hard drugs recreationally at the time of his death.

It also said that forensic tests done after the death showed that Hawkins’ heart was about double the normal size which means that it could have collapsed even if he hadn’t been wearing drugs.

Oliver Taylor Hawkins was born on February 17, 1972 in Fort Worth, Texas and passed away on March 25, 2022 at the age of 50. Hawkins grew up in Laguna Beach, California, where his family moved in 1976. Hawkins was the youngest of three children.

Jason and Heather, his older brother and sister were also there. He graduated from Laguna Beach High School in 1990. There, he met Jon Davison, who is now the lead singer of Yes.
