Sally Thomsett is an English actor who was born on April 3, 1950. She played Phyllis in the movie The Railway Children and Jo in the TV sitcom Man About the House. She also played Janice in the 1971 movie Straw Dogs and Nemo in the movie Baxter!

How did Sally Thomsett Get Fame?
Thomsett was born in Plumpton, England in 1950. Her parents, Maurice and Dorothy Thomsett already had three sons. She went to the Elm Grove Infants and Juniors School when she was young. She grew up in nearby Brighton.
She did a few pantomimes until she graduated from high school and went to Phildene Stage School in London. Thomsett made several films for the Children’s Film Foundation after he graduated from theatre school. She acted in many popular TV shows such as Theatre 625, Dixon of Dock Green, Nearest and Dearest and Z-Cars.
She also played Jennifer Villiers in the 1967–1968 comic series The Very Merry Widow and its 1969 spin-off, The Very Merry Widow and How. Thomsett was chosen to play Phyllis in The Railway Children even though the character was 11 and Thomsett was 20 when the movie was made.
Jenny Agutter was two years younger than Thomsett, but she played her older sister Bobbie in the movie. Thomsett’s deal said she couldn’t say how old she was during filming. She also couldn’t smoke, drink, drive a car or be seen with her boyfriend in public.
She was nominated for the BAFTA Film Award for Newcomer to Leading Film Roles. Thomsett went on to be in The Fenn Street Gang and Softly, Softly: Task Force. She then played the lead in Straw Dogs, a psychological thriller with Dustin Hoffman and Susan George and Baxter! with Britt Ekland.
After appearing in a TV ad for Bovril in 1972, Thomsett was noticed by writers Brian Cooke and Johnnie Mortimer who put her in the hit ITV sitcom Man About the House as Jo. She played the role for the entire run of the show from 1973 to 1976, as well as in a 1974 movie with the same name.
Thomsett kept acting after Man About the House stopped in 1976. In 1978, she was in a show called Wodehouse Playhouse. After being in a commercial for Crunchie chocolate bars in 1979, Thomsett stopped acting for a while to see the world.
She went back to England in the middle of the 1980s. In 1987, she was in a play called “The Cat and the Canary.” After that, she was often in pantomimes. She was also in the music video for “Doctor in Distress” which was a charity song made in 1985 to keep Doctor Who from being canceled.
