Who is the Captain of the European Ryder Cup?
Henrik Stenson was removed as leader of Team Europe before he left to join LIV Golf, which messed up the team’s plans. But he was quickly replaced by former World No. 1 Luke Donald for Rome. The Englishman planned how to beat a US team led by two-time Major winner Zach Johnson.
Luke had a distinguished career in the game, having won all four matches in which he participated. He also served as vice-captain for the past two games, in 2018 under Bjorn and in 2021 under Harrington.
Donald’s thorough match preparations included a scouting trip to Marco Simone and appearances from all 12 players at the BMW PGA Championship as the Europeans seek to capitalize on home advantage and recapture the title after confirming his team with his six wildcards.

Who is the Captain of the USA Ryder Cup?
Zach Johnson is the captain of the USA Ryder Cup. Team USA captain Zach Johnson was free to continue strategizing how his team would win the Ryder Cup on European territory for the first time in 30 years while the European camp coped with the upheaval of losing the leader.
Johnson has previously worked as a vice-captain twice, once for Steve Stricker in Whistling Straits and once for Jim Furyk in Paris in 2018. Additionally, he participated in five Ryder Cups losing the first four before winning at Hazeltine in 2016.
