Famous American football quarterback Derek Dallas Carr plays for the National Football League’s New Orleans Saints. At Fresno State, where he twice earned first-team All-MWC accolades, he played collegiate football.
The Oakland Raiders selected him in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He just sustained an injury and in this post, we’ll learn what transpired.
How Did Derek Carr Get Injured?
Derek Carr’s exit from the contest due to a right shoulder injury, the Saints suffered their first defeat of the campaign against the Packers on Sunday, September 24. Carr was hurt when defender Rashan Gary sacked him in the third quarter. He was thrown to the ground and couldn’t protect himself or the ball.
Carr sprained the AC joint in his right shoulder, but it appears that he has averted a more severe injury than first thought. You can see the incident in a tweet provided below:

Carr was transferred to a nearby hospital for more testing after X-rays at the stadium. Rapoport adds that Carr’s throwing shoulder was checked many times and no more damage was found. When Carr can play again will depend on how the swelling goes down and how well he gets around.
In a news conference after the game, head coach Dennis Allen said that Carr was taken to a hospital near Green Bay to get his shoulder checked out. You can listen his statement in a tweet provided below:

What Score Did Derek Carr Get Before Injury?
Carr had completed 13 of his previous 18 throws for 103 yards and a touchdown before the injury. After Carr left the game, Winston took over and completed 10 of 16 passes for 101 yards, but the Saints failed to score a single point.
With one minute left, Winston did give rookie kicker Blake Grupe a chance to make a 46-yard game-winning field goal, but the kick missed wide to the right. Although Carr was listed as “week-to-week,” Allen did not exclude him from Week 4’s game against the Buccaneers. Allen said:
“We’ll evaluate him as it goes throughout the week this week, I think we dodged a bullet there in terms of anything of real significance. I think we’re kind of saying week to week. But again, he felt better today than he did yesterday. So we’re not making any decisions today. We’re not ruling anything out. We’ll see where he’s at as the week goes on.”
Rashan Gary sacked Carr in the third quarter on a third-and-9 and threw him to his right side. The seasoned quarterback took some time to stand up but ultimately made his way with trainers to the locker room. For the remainder of the game, Jameis Winston took over for the hurt Carr.
