On Thursday, August 31, 2023, Ruby Franke’s three sisters issued a united statement in response to the growing outrage over their sister’s detention for posting videos on YouTube. Sisters Julie Deru, Bonnie Hoellein, and Ellie Meacham all posted the same statement on their Instagram pages, calling for their sibling’s arrest and adding:
8 Passenger creator Ruby Franke was arrested on Wednesday and charged with two charges of severe child abuse. The 41-year-old blogger was not alone in her detention; her husband, Kevin Franke, and Jodi Hilebrandt, founder of parent counselling firm ConneXions, were also arrested.
The sisters, who also manage their own YouTube accounts, said they felt it was inappropriate to post new footage until they had addressed the backlash. In less than a day, the post has received over 85,000 likes.

They all hail from Utah, and you may see the five of them on each other’s channels rather often. Bonnie and Eliie’s early blogging days were spent creating content together, such as a sibling Q&A that was posted on their combined channel, Bollie. They mostly talk about mundane, family-related topics.
Deru has been uploading family-oriented vlogs to her channel, Deru Crew Vlogs, since November 2011. She has over 220,000 subscribers and 50 million video views. The 35-year-old had to uproot and relocate to Kansas City, Missouri, but she has now found her way back to her relatives. They have five kids between her and her spouse Landon.
On the other side, Bonnie launched her self-titled YouTube channel in March of 2013. along with family, travel, lifestyle, and cuisine postings about her regular life. Many of her recordings document significant events in her kids’ lives.
Bonnie’s vlog has been viewed over 800 million times by her 1.3 million subscribers. Olivia, Cody, Lincoln, and Boston are the offspring of her marriage to Joel Hoellein, which took place in May 2007. Ellie and her husband Jared have a blog where they write about their daily lives. Stylebyellie was the original name of the blog, which was developed for private use.
Makeup tutorials and other lifestyle-oriented topics were featured. After giving birth to her daughter Jennifer June in January 2023, the 32-year-old vlogger now has four kids. Beau Griffiths, Ruby Franke’s brother, is the YouTube personality behind the channel A Griffiths Life Vlogs, which has over 60,000 followers.
After Her Arrest on Child Abuse Charges, Ruby Franke’s Sisters Have Spoken Out
The mother of six, who once hosted a family YouTube channel, was arrested in Utah and is currently being held on severe child abuse charges alongside her business partner Jodi Hildebrandt. The Santa Clara-Ivins Public Safety Department states that they were arrested on August 30 in response to an allegation of a malnourished youngster.
Ellie Mecham, Bonnie Hoellein, and Julie Deru, Franke’s sisters, have spoken out, claiming that their brother’s arrest “needed to happen.”
They released a joint statement on Instagram on August 31 that stated, “For the last three years we have kept quiet on the subject of Ruby Franke for the sake of her children.” We have taken every precaution behind the scenes to ensure the children’s safety. Without addressing the most recent occurrences, we wouldn’t feel good continuing with normal content. When we do that, we will stop talking about it.
They said, “Fortunately, Ruby’s arrest was necessary.” Jodi’s arrest was inevitable. The primary concern has been alleviated now that the children are secure. According to a news release published by the Santa Clara-Ivins Public Safety Department, the youngster was found “emaciated and malnourished” with “open wounds and duct tape around the extremities,” and was on the lookout for food and water. Police said they took the sick child to a nearby hospital, but didn’t say how old they were or what they looked like.

Following information that other children may be in a similar situation, police searched a nearby home, as stated in the news release. Another child “in a similar physical condition of malnourishment,” according to the police, was also taken to the hospital.
