We regret to inform you that Disney+ will not be adding The Little Mermaid anytime soon. Disney+ is getting some great new shows and movies in August, but The Little Mermaid won’t be one of them. Despite widespread anticipation, the Halle Bailey-led picture will not premiere on Disney+ in August since it was left off the service’s recently revealed full schedule.
It’s startling that the movie won’t be out in August, and not just disappointing. This is because the typical release time for a Disney movie on Disney+ is 90 days after its theatrical debut. If Disney’s The Little Mermaid doesn’t arrive on Disney+ before the end of the year, fans will have to wait more than a hundred days from the film’s theatrical release date.
Release information for Disney Plus’s The Little Mermaid
Disney has stated that The Little Mermaid will be accessible to stream on Disney+ beginning September 6, 2023, even though the film will not be added to the service until much later.
The week of September 18 looked like the earliest we’d see the film on Disney+, so the September 6 release date was a pleasant surprise. Recent Disney blockbusters, like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, weren’t released to theatres until the DVDs hit shelves.

There may be a method to the Disney+ madness, but for now, many fans are left wondering when they will be able to watch Disney’s next aquatic adventure. Walt Disney Pictures may follow suit after a similar trend evolved with the studio’s Marvel Cinematic Universe productions in recent years.
The last two Marvel Studios films both premiered in theaters and then made their way to Disney+ 89 days later. Little Mermaid still has time to implement a similar 90-day strategy.
